Ph adjustment of plant nutrient solution

- Jun 26, 2020-

Plant nutrient solution can replace the natural soil to provide the plant with water, nutrients, oxygen, temperature and other conditions, so that plants can grow normally and complete their whole life cycle. Plant nutrient solution plays an important role in the normal growth and development of flowers. In the preparation of plant nutrient solution, the formula and dosage should be determined according to the varieties of cultivated flowers, different growing periods and different regions. Strive to achieve comprehensive and balanced nutrition, conducive to plant absorption and utilization. Today we will introduce the ph adjustment of plant nutrient solution.

The ph of plant nutrient solution directly affects the status, transformation and availability of nutrients in the nutrient solution. For example, phosphate tends to precipitate when it is alkaline, which affects its utilization. Manganese, iron and so on in the alkaline solution because solubility decreases will also occur deficiency disease. Therefore, the adjustment of pH value in the nutrient solution is not negligible. The pH value of the nutrient solution can be determined by the colorimetric method of mixed indicator, according to which the indicator shows different color characteristics in the nutrient solution with different pH value. Nutrient solution is generally prepared from well water or tap water. If the pH value of the water source is neutral or slightly alkaline, then the pH value of the prepared nutrient solution is similar to the water source. If not, it should be adjusted. When adjusting pH value, dilute strong acid and strong base with water first (phosphoric acid or sulfuric acid is used to neutralize partial acid, and sodium hydroxide is used to neutralize partial acid), and then add it to the nutrient solution drop by drop, at the same time, constantly use pH test paper to determine, until neutral. When soilless cultivation is carried out in different places, due to the different sources of water for the preparation of nutrient solution, the prepared nutrient solution may be more or less affected, sometimes affecting the availability of some nutrients in the nutrient solution, and sometimes even seriously affecting the growth of crops. Therefore, before the soilless cultivation and production, the local water quality should be analyzed and tested in order to determine whether the selected water source is suitable.
